A Quiz: What Year Did This Happen?

As a token of appreciation for the many weekly readers of this site, this week will include a little reader participation quiz.

Here are the facts: Soldiers stationed at historic Fort Snelling just south St. Paul petitioned the Ramsey County probate court to be excused from military service. The probate court actually granted the soldiers' petition, thereby excusing the soldiers from service. But, the United States General assigned to oversee the soldiers petitioned the Minnesota Supreme Court to prohibit the enforcement of the soldiers' dismissal from service by the probate court. The Minnesota Supreme Court agreed with the General, concluding the probate court had no authority to dismiss soldiers from service.

The question is, when did the Minnesota Supreme Court make this decision:

  1. 1808
  2. 1852
  3. 1880
  4. 1906

E-mail me at dan@gallatin-law.com with your name and guess. The first one to correctly guess gets a $20 gift card to Savoy's Pizza in Hugo. Good luck and thanks for reading!
