A Week at Gallatin Law

The beauty of being a small law firm is having some degree of control over what I do and who I do it for (usually).  I do not get stuck doing just a single type of law -- i.e., bankruptcy, divorce, or litigation.  Here is a glimpse of what my schedule has been since I last updated this blog:

Thursday:  Prepare an Answer and Counterclaim on a new case.  Finalize discovery responses in a litigation.  Met a client in Oakdale to review a case.  Went to golf league in Maplewood.

Friday:  Prepared probate pleadings.  Sent out answers to discovery.  Prepared and sent discovery to an opposing party.  Commented on a proposed new business deal for a client in St. Paul.

Monday:  Prepared for a hearing in Ramsey County.  Submitted a letter to a judge in Otter Tail County, submitted a pleading on a case in Hennepin County.  Settled two personal injury cases.

Tuesday:  Settled a litigation for a business client.  Worked on a declaratory judgment action for a client to get insurance coverage on a denied claim.  Attended a hearing in St. Paul, and thankfully prevailed in every respect.  Received a judgment after a trial in Freeborn County (my client was awarded every dollar we asked for in a real estate related matter).  Met with a client in Vadnais Heights on a new corporate matter.

Wednesday:  Attempted to get a resolution to a commercial lease dispute for a property in Minneapolis. Looked at firm's financials and workflow.  Develop assignments for the paralegal to execute.  Got up to speed on a real estate litigation over property in Anoka.

It's been a very busy week indeed, but I am very lucky to have clients who trust me to do their work!
