Spring is here, I don't care if its 22 degrees when we wake up! There's more sunlight, the sunlight has a bit of warmth, and the snow is pretty much all gone. That's enough for me!
With spring comes new energy, new zest. Here are a few of the local places I think highly of, places where you might enjoy some springtime fun:
Grundhofer's Old Fashioned Meats (Highway 61 in northern Hugo): best known for their brats, but for me the crab legs and smoked salmon are amazing. I grill the crab legs -- I'm not very adept at cooking fish, but crab legs are super easy.
Keller Golf Course (Maplewood): Going in the early summer is best. After that, the course starts getting beaten up a bit. A lot of nostalgia at that course.
Cup & Cone (White Bear Lake): Really need to go during the off times to avoid a 20-minute wait....or bring good company and wait out the long lines with good talk and some people watching. I am curious how they even stay in business because the prices are so cheap and the amount you get is crazy.
Tamarack Nature Center (White Bear Lake): Excellent trails with a good mix of hills. Pretty much every time I go there I see the turkeys and deer. It's a great little oasis that's just a short drive.
Share some of your favorites and get out there to enjoy the spring. No mosquitoes, a bit of warmth, and good times are there to be had.
