It's fiscal year-end for many businesses. It's the holiday season for everyone. It all kind of slows down and, in part out of necessity, we have to take a look back and project the future. For those who pay quarterly estimated taxes, you for sure know what I mean there.
For me, it's also a time to assess my answer to this question: What do I really want? The reality is, some part of that answer is money (that's a blend of want and need), but I don't press for a certain percentage increase or a certain dollar threshold. Instead, I try to find work that I enjoy, work that I think will permit me to benefit the client. If I find that work, the money will be fine. My wants are predominantly non-monetary- I want to stay healthy, I want to keep my blood pressure down, and I want to have some fun.
Your wants are your own, or maybe your company's wants are it's own. The city of Hugo wants Cattle House to come to fruition - that helps everyone (in theory). Grundhofer's Old Fashioned Meats maybe wants fewer deer to process and more beef jerky to move off the shelves. The Food Shelf maybe wants more cash donations and more people to come in and take advantage of its offerings.
Do as you see fit, but I'm sharing that at this time of year I find it's a good time to re-address what I want. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
